Showing up weekly without burning out

Pre-decide everything
Same day. Same length. Same opening structure. Creativity belongs inside the format, not in re-inventing the format every week.
Decision fatigue is the silent killer of weekly publishing. Every Sunday you spend choosing topic, length, format, channel is a Sunday closer to quitting. Pre-decide the container once, and let the contents change inside it.
Write your format down in one paragraph: where it lives, when it ships, how long it is, what its first line always does. Re-read this paragraph the next time you are tempted to redesign the format mid-month.
The 70% rule
Publish at 70% — the work you would happily defend, but not the work you obsessed over. Obsession is the enemy of frequency, and frequency is the engine of trust.
The reader cannot tell the difference between your 70% and your 95%. You can, painfully. The reader can tell the difference between a writer who shows up every week and one who disappears for a month after a 'perfect' essay.
Reserve obsession for the rare flagship piece — one a quarter, at most. Spend the other eleven weeks earning the right to be read when the flagship arrives.
The Sunday-night rescue plan
Build one half-written draft and one fully-written backup at all times. The half-draft becomes Monday's essay when the week goes sideways. The backup ships on the week you get sick.
A two-week buffer is not procrastination; it is professionalism. It is the difference between an audience that trusts your rhythm and an audience that quietly forgets you exist.
When to skip a week
Almost never. When you do, name it briefly to your audience and ship something the following week. A missed week, acknowledged, costs nothing. A missed week, hidden, plus a triumphant return three weeks later, costs the reader's belief that you are reliable.
